Only two of us went today - Karin with her water-loving retriever, Tacoma and the doggy-walk organiser, Sally with her surrogate dog, Sheba (wh0 likes water - but not on her back...). It was a beautiful, crisp evening - perfect for a walk. The trees are slowly turning green and the trail was slightly muddy from the recent rains, but not excessively slow. We walked along Lynn Creek to the Morton Creek trail and then turned back. Our dogs got a couple of dips in the water along the way. We were horrified - HORRIFIED - to learn that the beautiful memorial to dogs that have left us was torn down by someone who felt it was 'plastic littering the environment.' Photos of lost dog companions were invariably laminated or sealed in plastic bags to protect the photos from rain and the photos were invariably tightly nailed to a tree - there was no littering - just a tranquil spot people could spare a thought for missing companions. This act can only have been done by an extremely selfish, self-centred and utterly heartless individual (as the poster describes - the enviro-nazi was caught in the act of destroying this memorial). This was not the act of a council or even a group of people. It was the loan act of one person who thinks it is better to remove an area which covers less than 2m square of litter rather than clean up the entire damn creek. Senseless, hurtful, blasphemous and hypocritical! |
