So....

The morning started with most of us at the carpool, and one of our drivers MIA.
Turns out her Zipcar appears to have been stolen, and so she was left not only without an expected transport, but also left her stranded very far away from the carpool location.

A LOT of VERY patient people and Nayef happily stepping in to drive and we managed to pick up the lone hiker and finally make our way to Squamish.

A couple more unplanned stops and we finally hit the trail just after 11am.
We started from the parking lot opposite the rd from the Outdoor School and hiked up the road just over a km - a bit more than necessary, but still nice to be out of the cars and on our way.
Once up the steep road, the trailhead was easy to find on the right side of the road. At the junction, we followed Copperbush trail - marked by copper triangles and red cantops.
In the first km, we found an ornament tree, a small pond with a collapsed shelter of sorts, and after another 30min or so of undulating trail, we came to a small creek crossing with small waterfalls. The bridge is out, but no problem crossing on makeshift log walk.

Right after the creek crossing, we hit the road and headed up to the lake. The road was not busy, but we were passed by a few trucks. One, in what looked like an attempt to avoid our group which was pretty much waiting in the ditch for her to pass, ended up in the opposite ditch - lots of rolling eyes and laugher - and that was just her group.

The road rounds a part of the lake and then the path took us through a roomy campground (only one group still standing), and then to a great open access to the lake.

Here we paused for lunch and some doggy play.

With bellies full, we returned to the road, and found Skyline Trail to the right (west) - marked with yellow cantops. We crossed a great wooden stairway, and got a few peek-a-boo views of the distant mountain ranges. This train ends at a junction with a map and options to go to Evans Lake or Fraser Burrard Trail for another km back to the road. We took the latter.

One the road we were again passed by the group of trucks involved in the ditching, and as the first passed, he warned of the lady driver behind. Too funny.

At the cars a plan was devised to go for some refreshments at the Howe Sound Pub ...if we could find it. ...and we did ... eventually. Yummy!!

We lucked out on the weather - it was perfect for a hike, sunny and the perfect temp. Only a bit more blue sky for pics would have been nice. Everyone chatted a storm, and the diversity of the group made for interesting conversations and a really pleasant day.

Thanks everyone for coming - and for your patience at the start. I had a great day - hope you did too.
