After more than two weeks of rain, we lucked out and got a great night for a paddle. The water was calm and no rain (until we came off of the water). We had two people who had never kayaked before and both were up and looking like pro's in no time. Our direction today was South and we headed along the shoreline to Boulder Island - admiring and mocking the variety of houses that filled the rocky water's edge. Only one lone starfish, but we were surprised by a seal as we headed back into the Cove. Bill was very close to needed to fill out our first collision report. We lingered to see if he'd pop up again, which he did briefly and too far away, and then we reluctantly went back into shore. One more wildlife viewing before it was over though, as an eagle was fishing just south of the kayak shed. Hung out in a tree and posed for a couple of nice photos. When the paddling was done, we headed over to the Raven for some refreshments and food (yum!). |
