DISCOVERY WATERFRONT/BEACH WALK

This walk is advertised in the North Shore News and Sponsored by the District and City of North Vancouver and others.

The walk can be started anytime between 10am and 11:30pm, but we're going to go as a VROC group, starting at 10:30am.

The walk starts at the SOS tent near the concession stand in Cates Park, and ends at the SOS tent in Panorama Park in Deep Cove.

This moderate walk takes approximately 2 hours over beach trails and streets.

After the walk, a shuttle bus can bring you back to Cates Park (11am - 2pm).

from website:
The objective of the Waterfront Discovery Walk is to educate the public of the need for responsible stewardship of our shoreline. The day of the walk, participants sign-in at Cates Park and are provided a route map. At Strathcona Park (roughly half way on the 4.5 km walk) environmental interpretive guides give ongoing talks. At Panorama Park, walkers receive participation certificates and a variety of educational materials. They also are able to enjoy a variety of displays. A free shuttle bus transports walkers back to the parking lot at Cates Park.

Notes:
Although dogs may be allowed, please keep in mind that they may not be permitted in the shuttle buses so you may need to find alternate means to get back to your car. Also, because this area is normally quiet and off-set from traffic, a lot of people allow their dogs to run loose on property or in the neighbourhood - often with no fences.
